OVERVIEW: A lower court properly convicted defendant for unlawfully selling intoxicating liquors upon ceded lands formerly included in the Yankton Sioux Indian Reservation, in the State of South Dakota. The prohibition against selling intoxicating liquors upon those lands was founded upon a reasonable basis, and Congress had the power to make the law.
