OVERVIEW: A citizen of New Jersey was denied leave to file a bill against the State of New Jersey to enjoin it from enforcing the Eighteenth Amendment. The jurisdiction granted to the Court in U.S. Const. art. III, § 2 did not give the authority to entertain a suit brought by a citizen against his own state without its consent.
