OVERVIEW: Habeas corpus was properly denied to a prisoner who, while serving in the army during wartime, had been convicted of murder by a state court. The Articles of War of 1916 did not vest in the military courts during a state of war exclusive jurisdiction to try and punish persons in the military for offenses that violated state law.
