The Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination (MPRE)
The MPRE is administered in 50 jurisdictions (including Guam, Saipan, and the Virgin Islands) nationwide each March, August and November. Washington, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Maryland do not administer the MPRE. The MPRE is the only component of the bar exam not administered with the rest of the exam. It is generally taken before graduation from law school.

The Multistate Bar Exam (MBE)
A six-hour, 200 question multiple-choice exam administered in 52 jurisdictions (including Guam, Saipan, and the Virgin Islands). It is not administered in Indiana, Louisiana and Washington. It is generally administered on the last Wednesday of February and July.

The State Essay Exam (MEE)
This section is part of every state's bar exam. The length and number of questions varies from each jurisdiction to the next.

The Multistate Performance Test (MPT)
This is a challenging bar exam administered in the following states: Alaska, California, District of Columbia, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas and West Virginia. The Multistate Performance Test (MPT) is administered the last Tuesday of February and July. States may use one or both of the MPT's 90-minute skill questions.
