Overview: In adoption proceedings, the circuit court properly determined that the natural father's consent was not necessary under Ark. Code Ann. § 9-9-207, because the father had abandoned the child; also, the determination that the child's adoption by her stepfather would serve the child's best interests was supported by the preponderance of the evidence.
