Overview: Since a homeowner's insurer, as subrogee, did not establish fair market value of personal property destroyed in a fire caused by a social guest's negligence, the insurer could not recover from the guest the amount paid for such personal property loss. The homeowner's understanding of his policy coverage was not relevant and was properly excluded.
