Overview: In light of prior aggravated sodomy conviction, trial court would have been required to sentence defendant to life without parole for his subsequent violent rape felonies under the sentencing statutes, including former O.C.G.A. § 16-6-1(b), either as they existed in at the time of the rapes, 1996, or at the time of defendant's trial, 1998.

Overview: While sufficient evidence supported defendant's trafficking, manufacturing, and possession of methamphetamine convictions, and his motion to suppress was properly denied, his sentence on the manufacturing charge should have merged with the sentence on the trafficking charge, as the former was the lesser-included offense of the latter.
