Overview: Summary judgment was properly granted in an action alleging intentional infliction of emotional distress because evidence that a mean look was given during a tense conversation did not constitute outrageous conduct. Since no tort was committed in this instance, the party giving the mean look was also not liable for a subsequent battery by another.

Overview: An order of protection against a husband pursuant to Haw. Rev. Stat. § 586-5.5 was overturned where a prior petition filed by the wife, which resulted in a temporary restraining order being dissolved, could have and should have included all of her allegations about all past acts of abuse and threats of abuse that made a protective order necessary.
