Overview: Defendant was properly convicted of domestic abuse assault, Iowa Code §§ 236.2(2)(a) 708.1(2), 708.2A(4), as 1) defendant struck victim (his wife) in the back of the head with such force that it felt like a rock; and 2) although victim initiated fight, defendant continued the incident and committed an assault before any need for self-defense arose.
