Overview: Court of appeal erred in determining that attempted sexual battery was not a crime punishable under the laws of Louisiana; La. Rev. Stat. Ann. § 14:43.1 and La. Rev. Stat. Ann. § 14:27 coalesced, with the result that the offense charged, attempted sexual battery, was a crime denounced and defined to be such under the statutory laws of the state.

Overview: State supreme court affirmed a decision in a wrongful death action against a city that placed venue in the parish where the child died and not where the child was hit as under La. Rev. Stat. Ann. § 13:5104(B), venue was proper where the cause of action arose, and the cause of action arose where the child died.
