Overview: Trial court did not abuse its discretion by refusing to grant a mistrial under N.C. Gen. Defendant had the opportunity to cross-examine these witnesses, and the State presented substantial evidence from other witnesses of defendant's guilt.

Overview: Admission of surveillance tape was upheld where defendant offered no evidence to support finding State's failure to present evidence about maintenance and operation of recording equipment amounted to plain error. Second robbery was sufficiently similar to support admission of testimony about it under N.C. Gen. Stat. § 8C-1, N.C. R. Evid. 404(b).
