Overview: Search of defendant's van, which included officer's removal of plastic wall panel, exceeded scope of defendant's consent and thus, violated Fourth Amendment and N.C. Const. art. 1, § 20. Among other things, there was no evidence nor finding suggesting officer suspected van contained contraband or that defendant was involved in criminal conduct.
